By boat

I don't have a lot of information on this for the moment but I know that there are cruises that come to Montreal either from Quebec city or from the east coast of the US (Boston, New York). For instance, Holland America offer cruises starting from or going to Montreal by the way of New York, Boston, Halifax, etc (mostly in autumn for the fall foliage). I'll try to get more information on the subject.
If you own a yatch or sailboat, there are marinas where you can dock either in the old port or at Ile Ste-Hélène. There's also some shipping company let you hop on their freight ships (I'm talking about legitimate travel...), it's cheap but it's not the most comfortable way to travel.
